Dana

midwife

Dana Shibley began her quest to work with birth after her daughter Alder was born in the hospital without medications in 1993. The struggle to have a birth without interventions was surprising to her. In that transition from vulnerability to ecstasy while giving birth, she realized clearly what she was supposed to be when she grew up at the age of 30. Her second daughter Micah  was born at home six years later. Dana has a BS in Biology and was a Peace Corps Volunteer for two years. She has taught childbirth classes for over 10 years. She graduated form Birthingway College of Midwifery in Portland and has been serving families in the Portland area as a primary midwife since 2003. In her off-call times, Dana likes to garden, make plant medicine, knit, play the guitar, hang out with her girls, and be near the water with her sweetheart.
