What to pack for your birth center birth

One of the benefits of choosing a birth center like Andaluz is that we have many amenities available so you can keep your birth bag packing list short and sweet.

Here is a list of what we provide for our clients during labor and postpartum, and what we suggest you bring from home.

What we provide during labor:

  • Robe

  • Bluetooth speaker

  • Essential oil diffusers and wide choice of oils

  • Birth ball/peanut ball

  • Food - quick snacks like granola bars, honey sticks, toast, fresh fruit

  • Drinks - tea, coconut water, Nuun tablets, coffee for partners

  • Linens - towels, blankets, pillows, etc.

What we provide postpartum:

  • Maternity pads

  • Mesh underwear

  • Depends-style underwear

  • Preparation H wipes

  • Perineal ice packs

  • Peribottle

  • Diapers for baby

  • Nipple cream

  • Shampoo, conditioner, bodywash

  • Sitz bath herbs

With the exception of the peribottle, the postpartum care items are for use at the birth center and do not go home with you.

What to bring with you to the birth center:

  • Infant car seat

  • Clothes for you to wear during labor

  • Comfortable clothes for you to wear going home

  • Clothes for the baby to wear home

  • A baby blanket for use in the car

  • Chapstick

Things that may be nice to have:

  • Specific foods, snacks, and drinks for you and your partner

  • Toothbrush & toothpaste

  • Toiletries if you prefer your own

  • Massage tools (example)

  • Change of clothes for your partner

  • Swimming suit for your partner (this is a waterbirth center after all!)
